About Hamdard Study Circle

The Hamdard Study Circle (HSC) was set up in 1991 by Janab Hakeem Abdul Hameed Saheb together with Janab Saiyid Hamid Saheb for coaching candidates from minority communities and backward classes for the Indian Civil Services. Over the last 29 years, the Hamdard Study Circle has created a niche for itself and is seen as one of the leading coaching centers for the civil services in the country.

It has sent 580 candidates to the Indian Civil Services since inception. The coaching programme which runs round the year covers all the 3 stages of the UPSC examinations: Preliminary, Mains and Personality Test.

Admission Procedure

Every year Hamdard Study Circle (HSC) conducts entrance examination for HSC Preliminary Programme, held normally in July, a little after the UPSC Prelims is conducted. Aspirants who wish to join the programme are admitted on the basis of an Entrance test and Interview.

The entrance test is conducted all over India in HSC’s 25 centres–Ahmedabad, Allahabad, Aurangabad, Bangalore, Bhopal, Bareilly, Bidar, Calicut, Chennai, Jaipur, Kanpur, Lucknow, Kavaratti, Kolkata, Guwahati, Srinagar, Imphal, Hyderabad, Jammu, Mewat, Moradabad, Mumbai, New Delhi, Patna, Ranchi, Raipur, Port Blair and Thiruvananthapuram.

Entrance Exam Pattern


Objective General Studies Paper (100 questions) in 2 hours.
CSAT (Qualifying and must get 30% marks) (40 questions) 1 hours
Essay Writing :-1 essay in 1 hours
(Medium can be one among English, Hindi or Urdu).
Short listed candidates will be called for personality test which will be conducted in HSC premises at Talimabad, New Delhi. The interview panel consists of eminent bureaucrats, journalists, professors, and industrialists etc.

Selection of candidates is based on merit.

The AC rooms are allotted to the willing candidates in the order of merit.

Academics Facilities


Mock Test Series for Prelims and Mains are held regularly. It’s Mandatory to appear in them
Classes are held for CSAT.
25% rebate is provided to all candidates on the cost of GS and Optional Test Series taken by them.
50% rebate is provided to candidates who qualify prelims for any GS and Optional Test Series taken by them.
Essay tests are held regularly too.
Mock interviews conducted with emminent personalities for candidates appearing in interviews of UPSC.

PER MONTH COST IN HSC

₹6500 per month including mess and lodging
For AC rooms, one has to bear the electricity cost for AC. Separate meters have been provided for all the AC connections.
